Big Ambitions

(Corbin's paleontologist hat)

Me: Corbin, what do you want to be when you grow up?

Corbin: A race car driver...wait! No, I want to be a food contest-er!

Me: What? What does a food contest-er do?

Corbin: They race to see who can eat the most food the fastest. Cool, huh?

Me: I thought you wanted to be a Paleontologist?

Corbin: I wish I could have 3 jobs. No, 4 jobs. No, maybe 10 jobs! I want to be a food contest-er, a paleontologist, and a veterinarian!

WOW - those are three drastically different jobs! Anyone want to contribute to this kid's college fund? He's going to be busy.

Tienna - 1 year old

Tienna turned ONE in October. She's not a baby anymore. She's walks and everything! If she wasn't so full of personality, I'd be sad about that. She is so much fun to have around.

She is crazy shy and she's pretty attached to her mama. I can't tell yet if it's just normal stranger anxieties, or if this will be a personality trait. I was very shy when I was little. But Jenalyn and Corbin will talk to anyone. And EVERYone.

Tienna turned 1 in the middle of our big move, so she didn't get much in the way of a birthday party. But we did manage to have a little celebration at Red Robin with Jason's Aunts. Here's a sweet video of her digging into her birthday...um...ice cream! I felt bad that the poor girl didn't even get a birthday cake, but she didn't seem upset about that at all.

Look at these chubber cheeks! (The manager at Red Robin gave her chocolate milk for her birthday ... and she loved every last sip of it!)

Just a couple days after her birthday, we got to celebrate her first real Halloween (last year we were just barely out of the hospital, so she didn't get to dress up).
She's just a wonderful little bundle of goodness, that brings a smile (and giggles) to everyone she meets.

I love you, Lu Lu Bird!

Corbin - 5 (and a HALF) years old

Corbin started Kindergarten this year. It has been a bit of an adjustment. We've had to talk to the principal and the school counselor a time or two. But I think we're getting the kinks ironed out *LOL* Corbin is so full of spunk. He loves to make the other kids laugh and it sometimes gets him into trouble.

Truth is, I love this boy more than I could ever convey with words. That smile makes my heart soar. And his hug is all I need to make a rough day better. And those eyes? WOW!

He loves his music. Right now his favorite is the Rio Movie Soundtrack. He'll turn that on and run laps around the kitchen and living room. He pretends he's in a race, like on MarioKart. Lots, of good exercise.

In our new house Corbin finally has his own room. No more pink in this boy's room! He keeps his room so nice and tidy. He has even become really good at making his bed. I was so afraid of how he would handle being in a room of his own. But he has done amazing. Although, I did ask him what he missed most about the old house and he said it was sharing a room with Jenalyn. I think they are closer because of those years spent cramped into one bedroom. I'm grateful for that.

Jenalyn - 8 Years Old.

Jenalyn turned 8 in October. A lot happened for her that month.

She got baptized:
I was so proud of her. It was a wonderful day. In order for my parents to be there for her baptism, we had it apart from the usual Stake baptisms. She got her very own special day, filled with so many people who love her. Later that night I was talking to her about how cool it is to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion now. And she said, "That tickles my tummy when you say that." I told her that was the Holy Ghost letting her know He's there.

And then she got her ears pierced. Years ago, she asked when she could get her ears pierced and I told her she could get them done when she was 8. If she old enough to decide if she wants to be baptized, then she's old enough to decide if she wants holes in her ears.

Eight-years-old came a lot sooner than I thought it would. Venessa got her a gift certificate to Claire's for her birthday, so we went and got her pierced :)
We also moved into a new house in October. But that's for another post...

I'm so proud of the person Jenalyn has become. She is thoughtful, kind and loving. She has a strong desire to do good. She's kind of a by-the-book kind of gal. And I love that about her.
